We are looking for an Outside Plant Specialist. In this role on our Operations Team, you will be responsible for inspecting outside plant built by our internal crews and contractors, testing outside plant prior to releasing it for sale, troubleshooting plant issues, responding to dig tickets, and assisting our technicians with complex installations.

What You'll Be Doing
Inspecting outside plant builds as they are in progress to ensure that build plans are being followed.
Inspecting outside plant when build is completed, document as-built changes, and work with the construction team if remediation is needed.
Partner with our OSP Engineering team to update plant maps to reflect as-builts.
Install fiber splitters within distribution cabinets.
Complete testing between MST's, cabinets, and the data center to ensure proper connectivity and light levels.
Troubleshoot plant issues through the use of ODTR's and other fiber troubleshooting equipment.
Assist install/repair technicians with complex customer installs/repairs by patching fiber, completing light readings and testing, etc.
Assist install/repair technicians with drop installations and replacements.
Mark Loop facilities as needed in the field when needed in response to tickets from the PA1CALL system.
Education and Qualifications
High school diploma required
Understanding and experience working with fiber optics
Experience using network design and mapping tools such as Vetro, ArcGIS, 3-GIS, etc.
Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) regulations desired
Experience working on outside plant projects
Driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
Knowledge of safety and civil regulations
Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations
Climbing ladders, working aloft, entering confined spaces to accomplish job tasks, and moving/lifting items generally not exceeding 60 lbs
Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business
Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedules
Must be able to work independently
Must be able to work in various weather conditions
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods
$25-$32 per hour based on experience

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and to talk and hear, and lift 25 pounds or more. The associate must occasionally reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
